Investigation of selected Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs)

This research, backed by the Pakistan Science Foundation, sheds light on the hazardous impact of e-waste processing on public health and ecosystems in Pakistan. Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) and heavy metals, released during improper e-waste management, pose significant risks, accumulating in the environment and entering the food chain. The findings emphasize the urgent need for sustainable practices and regulations to manage the growing e-waste burden in the country.

The research highlights how the toxic elements from e-waste processing contribute to air, soil, and water pollution, with detrimental long-term effects on human health. The study provides actionable insights for policymakers and stakeholders in adopting safer disposal practices and reducing the environmental footprint.
